Magical Creations is a small handmade textile studio run by Sarah Skinner in Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario. This page explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect through magicalcreations.ca and at in-person markets, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We follow Canada’s privacy law for businesses (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- When you place an order: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and what you bought.
- When you pay: card payments are processed securely by Square. Your full card number goes directly to Square. We never see or store it.
- When you contact us: the name, email address and message you send through our contact form or by email.
- If you create an account or sign up for our emails: your name, email address, order history and email preferences.
- When you browse the site: basic technical information such as your browser type, device and pages visited, collected through cookies (see below).
How we use it
- To process, ship and follow up on your order, including arranging local pickup.
- To answer your questions and provide customer service.
- To send you our newsletter, only if you have signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- To keep records required for tax and accounting purposes.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
We never sell or rent your personal information.
Who we share it with
We only share what is needed to run the shop:
- Square, to process payments.
- Canada Post or another carrier, to deliver your order (your name, shipping address and phone number).
- Our website host and service providers (such as Hostinger, WordPress/WooCommerce, Jetpack, MailPoet and Google Analytics), which store or process data on our behalf.
Some of these providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies to keep items in your cart, keep you signed in, remember your preferences and measure site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the shop (like the cart and checkout) may not work without them.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as required for tax purposes (generally six years in Canada). Contact messages and newsletter details are kept until they are no longer needed or you ask us to remove them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except where we must keep it by law). You can also unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
